Let's Update You All!
We purchased a couple of appliances to help make cooking easier. Our gas stove and oven have to be lit with either lighters or matches and the oven takes a while. I can even bake cookies in the air fryer so that’s cool.
The pictures below demonstrate how to buy appliances here. Appliances, both large and small are sold at the appliance store: refrigerators, stoves, popcorn poppers, coffee makers, hair dryers, HVAC systems, computers, TVs and all electronic accessories, juicers, blenders, etc. What you need is not in the store? They will ship it to you for free.
The Tabernacle Choir of Temple Square are in town this week. It’s part of a commemoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 100th anniversary of being in South America. It’s huge to have them here. Tickets are hard to find, that’s for sure. We get them because we are missionaries. Local media is covering this event extensively. It’s great to see. Several senior missionaries work in the communications department and they’ve been working really hard!
Last week, a call went out for a volunteer to accompany a young missionary home where she will receive medical care not available here. I volunteered and it was an incredible experience! Not appropriate to tell the whole story but this young woman was a pleasure to accompany. When the time comes, she will likely have her calling changed to fulfilling a service mission. We brainstormed opportunities in her community to serve. We also talked about setting goals. It was wonderful to share with her what I’ve taught over the years.
A couple of weeks ago, we had a great visit with Ignacio, aka Nacho, the Buenos Aires-based tutor we have been working with for a while. He’s a darling young man and we will get back with him again soon. He can teach us how to use the metro and bus systems.
Once again, I have to sing the praises of the incredible women serving here. Last week’s meeting was about the Savior’s effect on those who have been victimized by others. The conversation after was amazing. Sometimes we forget the incredible love of Jesus Christ and how HE can and does heal us, when we trust in Him.
I attended a Zone Conference for young missionaries and it was fantastic! The two young men who sat by me were hilarious. There’e a photo below that shows in what shape one young missionary’s shoes are in now. He’s been here not quite a year and will need shoes soon.
We are blessed and greatly honored to be here.
Love you all!
